IRS Form 1096 - Annual Summary and Transmittal Return
The Form 1096 is used to summarize all information that are physically mailed to the IRS. If you paper file any of the following Forms; 1097, 1098, 1099, 3921, 3922, 5498, or W-2G with the IRS, you must send a Form 1096 with each type of Form as the transmittal document.
When you e-file any Form 1099 through ExpressTaxFilings, a 1096 Form is not required by the IRS. At this time our development team is working on the capability to be able to download a copy of this Form for record keeping purposes (it will not need to be submitted to the IRS).
Who must File Form 1096?
A 1096 will need to accompany all paper filed Forms 1097, 1098, 1099, 3921, 3922, 5498, or W-2G.
Where to file Form 1096?
When you e-file any Form through ExpressTaxFilings.com a 1096 Form is not required by the IRS. If you are paper filing you will need to complete a Form 1096 for each separate Form that is filed and mail it to below address,
